Bikes & Scooters

BikeShare launched as a pilot program in 2013. In 2018, Motivate, the company that operates the blue, Ford-branded bicycles, launched 250 pedal-assisted “e-bikes” that go up to 18mph.Jump, the bright orange pedal assisted bikes, along with LimeBike, Bird and Spin all hit the streets of San Francisco roughly about the same time, creating very mixed responses.  Those wanting inexpensive and fun ways to get from point A to B, are happy to see them and to have choices.  Others are afraid of pedestrian collisions, and “littering”. This situation changes frequently with companies coming and going since City Hall has been weighing in.

Electric Car Chargers

There are approximately 200 electric car chargers in the City. This will most definitely increase substantially in the coming years.

Goat Grazing

Only in San Francisco, right?  citygrazing.com offers "environmentally friendly solution to weed control". The goats will clear an overgrown back yard or slope. These delightful creatures are also available for parties, educational visits and  documentaries.

Pavement to Parks

These public "parklets" are cropping up all over the City. It is an interesting collaboration between the SF Planning Dept., Dept. of Public Works, and the Municipal Transportation Agency to create and test ideas for new public spaces:

Recycling

sfrecycles.org is the place to go to recycle items that do not fit into the black, green or blue bins.

Appliances or old cans of paint and cleaning supplies can be scheduled for a free pickup.
